Golkonda:
Home of diamonds like Kohinoor, Golkonda also called as Shepherd’s hill is a ruined remains of the capital city of Golkonda, ruled by Qutub king Ibrahim during 16th century. More than a ruined fort, Golkonda is a little city in itself. Learn the rich history of Golkonda before you visit, otherwise, walking around this fort would be meaningless. There is also a light show in the evening – plan to visit Golkonda after 3 pm and you can spend the rest of the evening in this marvelous remains of history. The aerial view of entire Hyderabad from Golkonda and the splendid use of acoustics in the fort are highlights . The fort is huge and stretches for few kilometers, so wear comfortable shoes. Hyderabad is a hot city, bring a hat and sun glass with you. If you are not used to mosquitoes in India, you should bring a mosquito cream.

Birla Mandhir:
Devoted to lord Vishnu, Birla Mandhir is built with 2000 tons of pure Rajasthani Marble. Birla Mandhir is one of the cleanest and well managed temples in India. Visit this serene temple in the early morning to bring out the spiritual person in you. The sculpture of god in sanctum sanctorum is carved in pure black marble and 11 ft tall. The sculptures chiseled to perfection is a major highlight. Camera is not allowed inside the temple premise.

Salar Jung Museum:
Salar Jung is one of the three national museums in India that has more than 1 million objects. It is certainly not the biggest museum, but it has a amazing collection of sculptures, paintings, carvings, manuscripts and ceramics from various countries. The museum contains some of the rare Indian collectibles like wardrobe of Tipu Sultan, Aurangzeb’s sword and paintings of Raja Ravi Varma. The statue of the veiled Rebecca chiseled in marble will mesmerize you. The museum is open except on Fridays.
